I pushed out two software releases this afternoon, one big and one small. It seemed fitting to do both on the last day of summer.
The big one is Weather Now v5.0.9740, which includes 22 Jira cases, most of them from the big architecture and performance review I conducted in July. I managed to get all of that work done in 16 hours over 11 days. Already I'm seeing real performance improvements and fewer error reports. The release also includes 12 Jira cases and 7 hours of work on the Gazetteer, which runs the geographical services the weather app depends on.
The smaller one is right here: Inner Drive Journal v1.0.9740, which just has a couple of minor bug fixes and tweaks that I discovered after the much bigger release two weeks ago.
These releases wrap up the big push to root out years of chuft that had built up throughout the Inner Drive ecosystem. They also clear the way for a bunch of incremental feature releases I have planned, some of which I've wanted to build for years. (There are a couple of Weather Now features that never made the leap from ASP to .NET in 2001, and I miss them.)
OK, I've already spotted a couple of nits to pick in the Calendar feature, so let me get back to it.
