Red card for the OAFPOTUS
Election 2026EuropeHealthMilitary policyPoliticsScienceSCOTUSSportsTrumpUS PoliticsWorld PoliticsThe OAFPOTUS didn't like that a star US footballer got a red card in a World Cup match, so he called the president of FIFA and demanded a review of the play. Because he is that stupid and small. Can anyone, for ten seconds, imagine Eisenhower—or even George W Bush, for that matter—getting involved in such penny-ante bullshit?
Meanwhile...
- Why vote for Janet Mills (D), the sitting governor of Maine, when you can vote for someone "authentic" who is taking time to "reflect" after allegations of sexual assault? Let's all congratulate Susan Colins on her re-election, shall we?
- Never mind the football, how about NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte calling the European-American alliance no longer sustainable.
- Josh Marshall lays out his play for SCOTUS reform. So does Norm Ornstein.
- Glenn Kessler recently moved to New York from Washington, complaining that DC is not the city he moved to in 1994.
And tonight, I will once again get less than 8 hours of sleep. I average about 7½ hours, while Garmin thinks I need 7 hours 40 minutes. "Does that mean that getting nine hours of sleep is dangerous? No. The reason that sleeping for a long time is linked to higher mortality is that, on average, people who are sick sleep more." I also have a completely unobstructed east view to the horizon, so I can't sleep much later than sunrise anyway.
